Reading divergences across the London open and New York overlap

Liquidity windows change how reliable an oscillator divergence looks on FTSE names and cable pairs.

A textbook RSI divergence on GBPUSD at 07:55 London can look identical to one printed at 14:30 — and behave nothing alike. Liquidity, spreads, and news cadence change how trustworthy the oscillator reading is.

We encourage UK-based traders to tag divergences with session stamps: pre-London, London open drive, London afternoon, and New York overlap. Many false breaks cluster around the open drive; many cleaner continuations appear once both centres are active.

For equity indexes, the same discipline applies. An FTSE divergence that forms into a thin lunch hour deserves a smaller expectation than one that develops with New York cash equities open.

Technical analysis training focused on divergence analysis with RSI and MACD is incomplete without this clock. Oscillators measure momentum inside a market microstructure that shifts through the day.
